The Mill at the Gollinger Waterfall

Just a few decades ago, the Salzbachtal (in which the Salzachöfen gorge is also located) looked completely different than it does today. As on a chessboard, colorful, cultivated fields shaped the fertile valley.

The Torren district of Golling was mainly structured in a rural way and the residents had adjusted to self-sufficiency with agricultural products. The grain grown here was ground into flour in a total of seven mills along the Schwarzbach stream. The last mill still preserved today stands here on the area of ​​the Gollinger waterfall. The year 1618 can be seen on a roof beam of the mill.

Today, of course, grain is no longer ground in the mill, but it is still a popular photo opportunity on the way to the Gollinger waterfall.
